I have been asked to write a quick sentence (or two) about why I am choosing to run for ACS and DetermiNation. It's a hard thing to write and being that I am not not great with words makes it even harder to put in 1 or 2 sentences.
It took me a while to figure it out. I didnt want it to be contrived or sound forced. I wanted it to be from the heart and truthful. Here's what I said:
"I am running in honor of my father, a former runner, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2008. Watching him go through months of treatments and pain, I wanted to be able to do my part to help and support him. There was a time when he was able to complete this race and now, I run, because he cannot."
What do you all think? Ok?
I love that and it made me get teary eyed. It's perfect.
